About the Course

This is the seventh course in the Google Cybersecurity Certificate. In this course, learners will be introduced to the Python programming language and learn how to apply it to a security setting to automate tasks. First, learners will focus on key foundational Python programming concepts, including data types, variables, conditional statements and iterative statements. Next, they will learn to work effectively with Python by developing functions, using libraries and modules, and making their code readable. Following this, they will explore working with string and list data. A final component of learning to automate tasks through Python will be an exploration of how to import and parse files, and then the course will conclude with a focus on debugging. By the end of this course, you will: - Explain how the Python programming language is used in cybersecurity. - Write conditional and iterative statements in Python. - Create new, user-defined Python functions. - Use Python to work with strings and lists. - Use regular expressions to extract information from text. - Use Python to open and read the contents of a file. - Identify best practices to improve code readability. - Practice debugging code....

Outstanding content! Helped me immensely to refresh my knowledge of python and add to it. Plenty of hands-on labs and exercises. Great instructor. I thank Google and Coursera for this quality content.

It's ok. I'm mostly not a fan of the quizzes and tests of this module. The videos and reading were decent if you have little or no programming experience. I'm not new to Python, but sometimes the wording of the test questions would throw me off because I know how to use something or I know what it does, but the explicit explanations or descriptions the quiz questions give you for answers are not the words I would use to describe some things. They really want you to pick the option that just parrots what was said in the video or read about.

The course itself were fine, but just the person whom teaches this course was so hard to understand from the way and the strong accent he speak. It is not helpful for anyone that might be new to this field to learn the lesson. I completed this part of the program mainly from the reading.

At times the explanations were adequate and at times they were grossly lacking. The guidance needed to learn Python is great, even for the most intelligent, quick learner. More time and explanation is integral to student success.

Great high level introduction to cybersecurity, but the industry does not recognize this certificate in any meaningful way and it has been nearly impossible to find a job.

This was teh hardest part of the course for me - I think better documentation in key parts of this course would be beneficial - as well as providing more examples.

It should have the answer right after each task. This course is confusing in Module 4. After Module, I feel lost truly.

It was good relative to what was promised. But I expected a much more complex idea.

2 stars for efforts but I don't think it was a good idea to show basics of Python like how to print strings and what is an if statement... to people who take automation of cybersecurity tasks using python... Big portion of this class is a basic programming class, Task 1: how to print and what do you see... Task 2: You can also add comments.. .What do you see when you run a comment... Task 3: Write the comment to say `# This cell displays "I am using Python."`. Be sure to replace the `# YOUR COMMENT HERE` with your own comment before running the following cell. I think they were too lazy to put relevant content... it was too boring. Is it really what google offer?
